I previously blogged this case in 2022. I summarized: This lawsuit involves the freemium videogame “ Forge of Empires.” The plaintiff, Penny Quinteros (a/k/a TwoCents), claims she became addicted to the game. She played the game virtually every day from 2016-19–over 10,000 hours worth–and spent over $9,000 on in-game transactions. She also claims that she was harassed by in-game moderators who are “volunteers” but compensated with extra in-game privileges and currency.

The new requirement, which came about as part of the federal Corporate Transparency Act of 2021, means that many companies will have to report information about their beneficial owners — the individuals who ultimately control the company. To help companies comply with the new law, the legal technology company SixFifty today released a free tool that helps them determine whether they are required to file.

Insider data breaches continue to pose a serious threat to the UK legal sector, according to NetDocuments. Based on analysis of the latest data from the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) covering Q3 2022 – Q2 2023, more than half (60 percent) of identified data breaches in the UK legal sector were caused by insiders.
