What To Expect At ILTACON 2023

Here’s a sneak peek at what’s adding to the excitement.

ai-generated-8172587_1280Propelled by intense interest in emerging legal technology, the International Legal Technology Association’s (ILTA) largest event venue, an unprecedented demand for business partner sponsorships and potentially the largest number of full-week participants in history, the anticipation surrounding this August’s ILTACON23 conference is palpable.

What’s driving all the interest? Certainly, the demand for education and training related to artificial intelligence, legal process automation and cyber-security related to legal technology is important. As is the desire for human interaction and live experiences not unlike that fueling the intensive summer travel season. And, of course, anything and everything related to knowledge management, large language models (LLMs), legal standards, integrations and the like perks up most technologists’ ears as well.

But over and above general industry buzz and interest, ILTACON 2023 strives to deliver innovative content and unique experiences to the membership and sponsors. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s adding to the excitement – the highly impressive set of programs and services ILTA is delivering in Orlando.

Engagement

ILTA has gone above and beyond building connectivity opportunities between participants. Klik wearable technology will allow one-touch connectivity to foster lead generation. On the human side, the Buddy program, fueled by ILTA volunteer veterans, is designed to quickly acclimate first time attendees.

Many other groups and programs, such as the Woman Who Lead, Volunteer Committee and Strategic Partner Liaison Group, conduct efforts to help connect attendees and business partners. There are opportunities to volunteer for those looking for a hands-on way to help and meet people.

And loads of fun things – like block parties, golf events, running groups, yoga meetups and lots of others – add to the collaboration opportunities.

Education

It is well documented that ILTACON is the premier educational and networking event for the legal sector.

The gathering features over 80 educational sessions curated by the ILTACON Planning Committee. Daily keynotes offer perspective on technology and the industry, and distinctive programs such as the application of DISC profiles to raise team effectiveness are offered.

Attendees can absorb a diverse set of topics, ranging from staffing/salary, using the cloud, results of technology surveys, security elements, AI/LLM, process improvement, legal services pricing, industry standards, the list is close to endless. Interestingly, it is important to note programs are developed by ILTA volunteers, so they are highly topical.

And finally, sessions are supported by a robust exhibit hall providing learning opportunities about products powering improvement in the legal profession, allowing participants to quickly shift from theory to practice and back again.

Product Information

Speaking of the Exhibit Hall, almost 200 of the leading technology software, hardware and service providers will be in Orlando. They’ll offer booth displays, demo rooms, product update sessions and small group sessions with various law firm groups.

Importantly, leading business partners are not only conducting sessions with large firms, but also with midsize and small firms during the conference. We also expect the usual tsunami of product announcements, which one can only assume will be heavily weighted towards how AI is increasingly a factor in the profession.

There are a close to endless set of opportunities for the curious to satisfy their thirst for legal technology knowledge in the Exhibit Hall and via various information sessions offered by ILTA’s sponsors and business partners.

Networking and Entertainment

Last, but certainly not least, a bevy of opportunity exists for growing one’s professional network.

Informal connections are easy to make during ILTA lunches, vendor sponsored breakfasts or at the many parties offered during the week. ILTA themselves offer a unique performance by a legal technology-oriented band, and multiple comedy shows.

And there is no shortage of delicious business partner dinners or cocktails to be had during the various happy hours. But perhaps the best connections are made during the numerous coffee meetups and hallway conversations at the event.

In Closing

I can’t complete a preview of the conference without complimenting the International Legal Technology Association staff for everything they do to plan this event. It’s hard to imagine a more pleasant, appreciative, caring, and hardworking group of people.

They often tell me and all the volunteers how much they appreciate our efforts, now it’s my turn to do the same. Thank you ILTA for putting this together, and I hope all attendees have a fruitful, fun time at ILTACON 2023.
