PwC Australia’s NewLaw business incorporates Avvoka into its customer digital services offering

PwC Australia’s NewLaw legal operations team has entered an agreement with Avvoka under which it will incorporate Avvoka’s document automation technology within its end-to-end legal consulting and digital services for law firms, corporate legal departments and other adjacent business functions.

Mick Sheehy, a partner at PwC’s NewLaw said: “We know that enabling workflow with technology significantly benefits the client experience and it can become a true differentiator in any market the client operates in. It also improves the work setting and experience for those responsible for delivering the work, allowing them to focus on client outcomes by reducing the inefficiencies, time, cost and frustrations.

“We have always been extremely selective when picking our strategic partners and we’re super excited to build upon our now mature legal automation offering to give our clients even more choice when it comes to picking the right technology solution for their needs”.

The agreement builds on PwC’s broader automation offering, which includes a strategic global alliance with Harvey AI, announced earlier this year.

To ensure all outputs are overseen and assessed by PwC professionals, the firm says it has invested in building a specialist legal automation delivery capability at its Skilled Service Hub in Adelaide. This team will support clients with end-to-end design, build and deployment of legal automation solutions as well as ensuring the capability is successfully embedded and scaled to maximise value creation.

David Howorth, a director at Avvoka, said: “We’ve always been committed to delivering exceptional, tailored support to our expanding global client base, and it’s our view that combining our market-leading automation tool, with PwC’s breadth of knowledge and experience allows us to enhance our automation offering further by providing our clients with specialised assistance, from the initial project planning stages through to completion and beyond, regardless of the project complexity, document type, subject matter or location.”
