Speakers from Google, Microsoft + Meta at Legal Innovators California

The Legal Innovators California conference on June 4 and 5 in San Francisco is delighted to announce speakers from some of the largest and most influential tech companies in the world, including Google, Microsoft and Meta.

The two-day event, with Day One for Law Firms, and Day Two for Inhouse and Legal Ops, with ALSPs fitting into both days, is chaired by Richard Tromans, Founder of Artificial Lawyer, and organised by Cosmonauts.

We have always believed that what makes the Legal Innovators conferences special is the way we combine both parts of the legal market in one event. More now than ever before we find legal tech companies and ALSPs working with both law firms and inhouse teams. Meanwhile, for those companies that focus primarily on inhouse, the demand there is rapidly growing. In short, to really cover legal innovation we need both aspects.

Naturally there are differences between the major buyers and sellers of legal services, but they also increasingly have a lot in common: a focus on efficiency, grappling with generative AI, and (hopefully) more collaborative ways of working.

So, for us, having senior inhouse experts with plenty of legal tech experience take part in the two-day event makes total sense. Moreover, this particular Legal Innovators conference is in California, and more precisely in San Francisco – which along with Silicon Valley just up the road – is without doubt at the cutting edge of all things innovation, as well as tech investment. What these major companies are doing and what they think with regard to a range of innovation issues really matters.

We’ll have plenty more speakers to announce in the weeks and months ahead, but here are three key speakers from the inhouse world we’d like to mention this week:

  • Steve Gong, Patent Counsel, Data Science Head, Tech & Operations, Google
  • Lydia Petrakis, Senior Corporate Counsel, Digital Strategist, Microsoft
  • Julian Tsisin, Director, Head of Legal Technology, Data and Support, Meta

And they will be joining speakers such as:

  • Cary Burch, Founding Partner, President and CEO, Bryce Catalyst
  • David Wang, Chief Innovation Officer, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati
  • Gabriela Isturiz, General Partner, The Fund XX
  • Amol Bargaje, Global Chief Innovation Officer, Mayer Brown
  • Dr. Megan Ma, Assistant Director, CodeX and Law, Science + Technology, Stanford Law School
  • Danielle Benecke, Founder/Director, Baker McKenzie Machine Learning
  • Josh Rosenzweig, Senior Director of Digital Transformation and User Experience, Morgan Lewis & Bockius
  • John Scrudato, Senior Legal Engineering & Data Strategy Manager, Gunderson Dettmer
  • And, Zach Abramowitz, legal tech investor and advisor, Killer Whale Strategies.

This year we are also going to be hosting a special area for startups, alongside the scaleups, ALSPs, and legal tech giants. Get in touch if you’re a young company and would like to take part.

Last year we were bursting at the seams and had a tremendous two-day conference. This year we aim to do the same, at a new venue, and at a time of great change in the legal sector. We look forward to seeing you there!

P.S. In case you hadn’t heard, Artificial Lawyer will return to its normal full-time news and views publishing schedule from April. Meanwhile there will be plenty of updates on this site in the lead up to Legal Innovators California in June both now and from April onwards.
