Pinsent Masons hires Matt Peers as global COO

Pinsent Masons has hired Matt Peers as its as its global chief operating officer, replacing Alastair Mitchell, who is to depart after seven years at the firm. Peers was previously global COO and chief information officer at magic circle law firm Linklaters.

Peers will be reporting to Pinsent’s newly appointed managing partner Laura Cameron and sitting on the UK top 50 law firm’s operations committee. He will play a lead role in ensuring the business operations support to the firm is fit for the future and supportive of the firm’s strategy and newly articulated “Vision 26″.

Peers was at Linklaters for eight years. Prior to that, he was UK and Switzerland CIO of big four accountancy firm Deloitte and he has held roles including business services director, IT and operation finance at Carphone Warehouse.

In a post on LinkedIn, Peers said: “I am really pleased to have joined Pinsent Masons as global COO and am looking forward to working with senior partner Andrew Masraf, managing partner Laura Cameron, the partners, associates and business operations teams to deliver an ambitious growth strategy.”

Peers left Linklaters in January 2023, and the firm has phased out the global COO role following what it describes as a “considerable evaluation” of its business leadership structure.
