Australian-founded document comparison software provider Draftable Legal has released a NetDocuments integration, meaning that it now integrates with all major document management systems, including iManage and Microsoft SharePoint.
Draftable Legal’s desktop application was launched by Draftable earlier this year in response, it says, to demand from the legal market for more choice in the document comparison space. For around 12 years, Draftable has provided document comparison tools – it has around 750 global brand customers – but not legally-tailored redline tools. Draftable Legal was officially launched at ILTACON in Orlando in August, providing document comparison; redlining and annotation; advanced search and analysis; and version control and audit trail. It integrates with Microsoft Word and Outlook so lawyers can launch comparisons from where they are working.
Also in August, Draftable hired account executive Bob Moore, who has previously worked at OpenText and DocsCorp. Earlier this year, in March, it hired product specialist Yulia Gosper, who previously worked as a solicitor at Herbert Smith Freehills.
Speaking to Legal IT Insider, Gosper said: “It was in 2021 that Draftable heard of the need for legal document comparison and redlines and after dozens of conversations thought they had better do something about it. It took the team 18 months to get to where we are now. I joined in March and was one of the early testers. I’m a former finance lawyer and we’re constantly thinking about every step of the lawyer’s workflow, solving for accuracy, ease of use and efficient workflow.”
She adds: “With our NetDocuments integration we now integrate with all key document management systems, which finishes the full integration.”
Gosper says that while Draftable’s headquarters is in Australia, it has support resources in the US and Europe. At the end of November, it hired Maximiliana Carlson as a senior customer support engineer, based in Chicago. Carlson joined from iManage.
“The thing that is discussed with decision makers is pricing, and we’re making sure that our pricing is transparent. Support is also a big point, because you have law firms that are used to a specific level of service, and we want to make sure we provide that across time zones,” Gosper says.
Draftable Legal’s launch follows the announcement this year from Litera that it will end support for document comparison tools from market leaders Workshare and DocsCorp (which it acquired in 2019 and 2021), sparking new competition in that sector of the market. Litera’s go-to-market tool is Litera Compare.
