Tributes pour in for Dan Tacone, a great leader, and even greater human being

Tributes are pouring in for Intapp’s widely loved and admired president and chief client officer Dan Tacone, following an announcement yesterday (13 June) that he has sadly passed away.

Dan started his legal technology career with Elite Information Systems, selling the Elite business to Thomson Reuters in 2003, where as senior vice president, general manager he led the acquisition of several businesses and launched Elite into new markets globally.

He joined Intapp in 2010 and was part of the leadership team that acquired companies including Advanced Productivity Software, The Frayman Group, Rekoop, DealCloud, Gwabbit, OnePlace, Repstor and Paragon Data Labs, as well as floating Intapp on the New York Stock Exchange in 2021.

However, it was Dan’s kindness, positivity and people skills that people will remember him for. In its statement yesterday, Intapp said: “Dan was instrumental in building Intapp’s culture of delivering client success. He had a tremendous ability to connect with people. He built deep relationships, trust, and a reputation across the legal industry that are unmatched.

“Dan’s impact on our lives and the company will not be forgotten. An avid marathon runner, Dan set a high bar. He met every challenge with a competitor’s spirit, and he inspired those around him to do the same. Above all, he will be remembered as a positive and collaborative leader who brought optimism and kindness to every interaction. We are better for having known and worked with him.”

Among the many people in the industry to comment on the sad news of his passing on LinkedIn, Chris Cartrett, president and CEO of Aderant, who worked with Dan at Thomson Reuters, said: “He was a true legend in our space. Such a fine man and friend. Gonna miss him.”

Samia Rauf, APAC regional managing director at Intapp, said: “The saddest of days. Such a kind soul and big heart. We will miss you Dan. Your legacy will live on forever in our hearts. Thoughts and prayers to his family. Rest in peace.”

  1. It was truly sad to hear this yesterday as Dan was a friend for the past twenty years as our careers crossed paths a number of times. Best wishes Dan. Always your friend, Doug
