KPMG Law: What the tech-led legal department of the future looks like

In an influential Digital Legal Exchange survey last year, almost three- quarters of business respondents (74%) said they want in-house legal departments to use digital tools to enhance the service experience. In this report, KPMG Law summarises how the technology led legal department of the future will position itself and what its key priorities should entail.

With C-level executives focused on economic viability, geopolitical concerns, environmental, social and governance agendas, and digital transformation, they are increasingly looking to their legal teams to broaden their priorities, think about the bigger picture and deliver more value.

Stuart Fuller, head of global legal services at KPMG, said: “The transformed function can empower the organization’s legal professionals to integrate with other functions, drive ideas and strategies, and proactively contribute to the enterprise’s success in the future.”

The Digital Legal Exchange is a global, non-profit, independent membership forum for general counsel and their business colleagues dedicated to accelerating the digital transformation of the legal function.
