The Orange Rag Newsletter is Here!

It is hard to believe that it has been a year since Charles Christian, Legal IT Insider’s founder and the ‘godfather of legal technology’, passed away.

We will be hosting a memorial gathering in London on the evening of 16 November, directly after the ILTA Europe wrap up drinks. If you would like to attend, please register here.

I miss Charles’ guidance and great wit, and I wonder what he would make of the advent of generative AI, which will no doubt dominate our headlines for years to come. I suspect he would be having a field day with some of the frothier vendor announcements of products that are yet to really exist.

In this month’s Orange Rag newsletter, we bring you details of many new product launches, including in the gen AI space.

But it’s not all gen AI. We have some brand new data around the uptake of Microsoft Teams, which in a recent Legal IT Insider survey, almost a third of legal sector respondents said had overtaken email as their primary communication method.

We’ve got an exclusive Allen & Overy deal that global CIO Andrew Brammer says will help them recoup millions of dollars.

And we have the news that Simmons Wavelength partner Drew Winlaw has been appointed as partner and global large language model lead at Simmons & Simmons to head a six-person team responsible for looking at generative AI for the law firm’s fee-earners, its business services teams, and for clients. Read on for all the details of who is, or will be, in that team.

Don’t forget to check out the Wins and Deals and Movers and Shakers sections for a recap of all the news from the past month.
